ARTIST STATEMENT:
Living in a way that aligns with your heart, and your creative purpose takes courage, and courage begins with belief. Belief in yourself when opportunities shift, when challenges return, and when the past tries to influence the present.
My journey has shaped me, and every step has strengthened my resolve. I have faced difficulty, learned from it, and continued forward even when the path felt uncertain. That persistence is part of who I am.
My emotional experiences, especially those sparked by events outside my control, directly influence how I create. I believe that everything holds artistic potential, and I want people to see the world from perspectives they may not have considered. To notice what is usually overlooked. Everyone carries their own challenges, and continuing the effort to rise above them is essential. This is why I share my work openly: to encourage others to keep moving, keep trying, keep creating.
My artistic vision is present in everything I make: writing, sculpting, building, sewing, photography, illustration, graphic design, fashion, motion graphics, and film. The philosophy stays constant, but each medium asks for its own tools and its own process. Whether I am behind a camera, illustrating with charcoal, at a sewing machine, working on a computer, or holding a pen, the work evolves with each project.
The past cannot be changed, and others will remember it in their own way. What I can do is transform my experiences into creative expression. My art reflects the emotions that linger, the ones that shape me and motivate me. I choose to believe in my ability to grow beyond fear, pain, and isolation. I choose to create.
My art is born from that choice. It is the result of courage formed through challenge. I carry the strength of generations of women who created, protected, and persevered. Their presence inspires me to continue, to thrive, and most importantly, to share.
I am Belle De La Chelle.
